Notes from the Lion's Den

We hope you had a wonderful weekend. Last week's Rock Your School with our theme "ROAR into Learning!" was a resounding success! I loved seeing our students engaged in fun activities while learning all week. The dress-up days were great as well.
We only have 1 week left in Quarter 1! Please contact your child's teacher if you have any questions regarding their academics.
Be sure to check out my update below on our district Chess Kid Competition. It's some VERY exciting news!
Student arrival is at 8:15am with the tardy bell ringing at 8:45am, and dismissal is at 3:00pm and 2:00pm on Wednesdays. Please do not drop off students before 8:15 am. Students who arrive at 8:45am or later will be marked tardy and must be signed in by an adult. Please plan accordingly for your child's arrival and dismissal.

Beginning Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Orange County Public Schools invites all families to participate in the 2025 Fall Stakeholder Survey. Your participation is important because the results will be used as we work to ensure our families' experiences align with our core values.
You will receive an e-mail or text with the link to the survey. Please take a moment to answer the questions about your satisfaction with our school. The family survey is available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese & Arabic.
The survey begins September 30, 2025 and closes on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
The survey is anonymous, which means no one will know how you answered the questions, so please provide honest, thoughtful feedback. For additional questions or information, please e-mail Ms. Mrozek at cristina.mrozek@ocps.net .
Currently we are at 28 responses and we need at least 119 responses from our families (20% of our total student body). The survey is short and will not require more than 5 minutes at most. Please take a moment to complete the survey. If you cannot find the original e-mail, please scan the QR code and choose "Bay Lake" as your school.

PE and Outdoor Activities
Please ensure that your student is coming to school with a water bottle each day. The students in PE are utilizing the fields and the covered areas. There will be shade for the students, but not everywhere and they will need a water bottle to ensure they are receiving proper hydration during their time outside. We also have a water fountain dedicated to refilling water bottles in the PE areas, so students will never be without water when they are outside.
Skyward and Parent Communication
Please don't forget to register for your Skyward Family Access. You can find information on how to create the account and frequently asked questions here.
If you need assistance with Skyward access, please reach out to Ms. Josie Rodriguez, Registrar, at josie.rodriguez@ocps.net .
Delayed Dismissal
In the event of severe weather in the area, dismissal may be delayed. Communication will be sent from the school if there is a delayed dismissal. Parents and guardians will need to come to the front of the school with their ID or car rider tag to check out their student. We will begin regular dismissal after the severe weather is no longer detected in the area. A 2nd notification will be sent out when we resume dismissal.
