Principal'S Message

Welcome To Bay Lake Elementary School
Pride of the Community

Principal Lakeitha Mincey

Greetings Bay Lake Lions,
The month of October was amazing as we hosted our annual school-wide “Character Book Literacy Parade and Event”. Thank you for your participation as well.

I would like to encourage all Bay Lake parents to attend our OCPS Virtual Parent Academy event on Saturday, November 13th from 9:00-11:30 a.m. Parents, you will need to register for this event as soon as possible.
Parent Academy Registration - This November event will empower families with resources and strategies to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. The Parent Academy theme for the year is “Together Towards Tomorrow”: Plan for Success, which aligns with our strategic plan. All events will be presented in English and families will have translation options in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese. Student Progress Monitoring will help your child's teachers teach more effectively and make better decisions about the type of instruction that will work best with your child.

2nd Nine Weeks’ Progress Reports will be available online via Skyward Parent Access on Thursday, November 18th. If you would like a hard copy of your child’s progress report, please place your request through the following link, by Tuesday, November 16th.

Here are a few arrival and dismissal Safety Reminders: (1) All car riders must be dropped off and picked up daily through the car rider loop. No students should be dropped off or picked up on Silverlake Park Drive due to safety concerns. (2) We are also concerned about our back gate walkers arriving and departing on Vermillion Avenue and Wellington Blue Lane. Students and parents, when traveling to school on Vermillion Avenue and Wellington Blue Lane, please utilize the crosswalk and be alert of oncoming traffic. (3) We will like to encourage all bike riders to wear the proper safety gear such as a bike helmet and follow all traffic safety rules by stopping at stop signs and using the crosswalks. (4) If you travel the roundabout on Silverlake Park Drive, please follow all safety rules and walk along the sidewalk leading up to the crossing guide located in front of the school. Please note the speed zone safety signs as, together, we consider the safety of everyone.

New Worlds Reading Initiative Program Registration Reminder: Specific students were offered a monthly free book delivery program to help students and families build personalized, at-home libraries. These students will receive a book by mail during each month of the school year. A flyer went home with specific students on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Enroll today using the included QR code or at to start receiving books this December! If you have questions about this opportunity for your child, please visit Thank you for your support.
